2009-2010 Season
2009-09-10
Changes for 2009-2010We are rapidly approaching the beginnig of the 2009-2010 season, the third for the SCFHF. At this year's AGM there were some changes instituted to the League Rules by the members (Association Representatives) which we believe will make the League function better and will provide better hockey for all of the players and coaching staff.
All changes were passed by vote of the required 66% or better.
1. The pre-season wil be shortened, ending the first weekend in November
2. The regular season will end on Sunday 07 February
3. Regular season games should be completed by the end of the regular season, however a 'reschedule week' will follow for those games which could not be played
4. The week of 08-14 Feb will be allowed for rescheduled games and for those teams which have completed their schedules to begin League playoff games where possible. Any games not completed will be referred to Committee, which will have the exclusive right to decide whether unplayed games will result in a tie, a forfeit or be left out of the standings. The committee's decisions will be based on the steps taken by the teams involved to attempt to get their scheduled games played.
5. A new Provincial Playdown format will be announced by Female Council in the very near future, with the goal of establishing Provincial contenders as close to the end of February as possible to give teams adequate time to arrange travel etc. This year's Provincial Championships will be held on the weekend of 27-28 March
6. The League Championship is expected to be held on Sunday 21 March - the last Sunday of March Break so as to have League play completed before the Provincials. Location to be announced, but we expect that all games will be played in one rink.
7. During the 2008-2009 Season as a result of a special request, the Federation members agreed to include two Atom teams from the North Conference to participate in th SC League as a one time exception to the Federation By-Laws, in an attempt to provide Female League play to players who might not have otherwise had this available. The Federation received significant negative feedback from parents and Members on this issue and this exception wil not be repeated this season. SC play will be limited teams resident in the South Conference.
